I'm a creative critical friend who will help you talk about the future again.
In the unsettling age of climate change and cultural transformation, I use my creative confidence, experience and insights to help leaders get their people more practically excited about crisis and change, and about alternative, more values-driven ways forward. By hosting and helping to create special events, campaigns and experiences.
Where does nature's intelligence meet artificial intelligence? And how can supposedly sensible business get good plans for people and planet around them both?
You can start by having an encouraging chat with me. I like to simply do that with people.
And this platform is where we can go for a virtual walk at least. I’ve been blogging for the twenty years I’ve been running and being Momo – my creative production house. Sharing what I’m up to, promoting the projects with partners, the music as an artist and the milestones of discovery about the world. But here I am reposting the work and thinking that’s come together especially in the 2020s from all those years of exploration – my sense of purpose in this very particular moment in history.
Why do we need art more than anything in the era of crisis? You won’t believe me yet, perhaps, but here I shall be sharing about the work and thinking I’ve been developing with different partners and why I think each experience adds to this world view I now have.
From music, to sustainability research, to creative partnership, Unsee The Future has become a kind of brand platform to share my sensemaking of all the work I present, write, compose and talk about. A worldview I seek to evidence that is typically me – still playful, respectfully a little irreverent, exploring very imperfectly what hope even dare mean coming from a terrible revolutionary in a darkening era of fearsome unrealities.
But what, after all, makes reality? And where does it mostly live?
Before all that, to get you going if you are reading this first ever UTF on Substack, who the heck am I?
Who am I?
I bring alive tricky ideas, stories, trends and possibilities with inspiring creative experiences, in rooms and on screens – so you can get your story straight. And your strategy much clearer in the heads of your partners.
Drawing on a lifetime of work as a distinctive performer, host, speaker, designer, writer, events creative, music artist and composer, I help ESG champions light up rooms and changemakers feel less alone. Bringing together art and business with some cultural strategy, I help specialists and technical experts talk about difficult stuff with much more impact.
I bring together uniquely entertaining experiences and experts – from essential climate workshops to creative direction for events, CPD and campaigns. And I'll help you find your own voice in the possibilities.
Inspired by solarpunk, my personal passion as an arts champion and creative business encourager is to connect more of us to the possibilities found in the challenges of the 21st century – and to understand more about art's practical magic for changing the stories we think we're in.
I am the bloke from Momo:tempo, the voice of Unsee The Future, creative director of Momo:zo, member of the Association of Sustainability Practitioners, board member for Arts By The Sea festival, and co founder of the emerging Rogue Futures Initiatives. Author of "UTF! How to think like an artist and change the world", I am currently developing "The Shape of Things To Hum – an electro cabaret musical to end the end of the world".
